Tyabb Village Children's Centre is committed to building and maintaining strong, reciprocal relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities in order to develop a well-guided curriculum informed by First Nations voices for all children, educators and families. We continue to deepen learning, understanding and implementing reconciliation initiatives in partnership with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, for all children, family and staffs’ wellbeing, identities, learning, connectedness and communication. We are committed to teaching children skills, knowledge and confidence to talk about First Nations Peoples histories, cultures and contemporary topics through building respect, relationships and opportunities within the Village and the wider community. We believe that children are the agents of change in their current and future communities and therefore key participants in the reconciliation journey. Inclusion equality and equity are strong values of ours and we celebrate the rich cultures of the nations' First Peoples. We respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives to give children rich learning opportunities within the First Nations community. Through learning about First Nations peoples’ connections to Country, children will become environmentally aware, informed and they will take action to protect the Earth's past, present and future.
