Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's dreams are for a reconciled Australia where there are authentic, positive and culturally inclusive relationships built on mutual respect and understanding. We believe that this begins at a local level, where we respond to the needs of our learners and then builds to become part of our national identity.
We believe that all community members working collaboratively, must create a culturally responsive environment, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and educators and create educational opportunities for all students and their development to become active and informed citizens . We believe a significant step to practical reconciliation is acknowledging and valuing the diverse cultural heritages of First Nations peoples in the community.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart staff commit to deepening our knowledge and understanding around Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories. We strive to support all learners grow in their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories, particularly through the embedding of the cross curricular priority – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. In order to deliver a wholistic education that enables all students to thrive in a culturally responsive environment, we will actively listen with the ear of our hearts to what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples really want.
