VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We at Kindy Patch Floraville acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, heritages, and traditions. We are committed to reconciliation and our vision is a future of strong, respectful relationships between the Awabakal community, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider non-Indigenous community. We envision a future where all of Australia embraces Elders past, present, and future for their wisdom and knowledge. A future where early learning welcomes, respects, and acknowledges First Nations children and families. A key objective of Kindy Patch Floraville is to embody equal and equitable opportunities and acceptance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and celebration of the reconciled future we share.

As part of the mission of Kindy Patch Floraville, we strive to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community a sense of belonging, respect, and cultural safety and to acknowledge the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and all other children and families attending our centre. In doing so, we become familiar with the First Nations histories and cultures of the Land on which we play and learn. To extend knowledge and understanding around First Peoples of Australia in ways that are respectfully included in our everyday practice and across all curriculum areas. It is important for us to acknowledge that First Nations children's cultures shape identity, a sense of belonging, and ability to learn throughout their lives. A culturally respectful approach to early childhood services is an important part of supporting the identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and enhancing the knowledge of non-Indigenous children.
