Macksville Preschool Childcare Centre’s vision for reconciliation is a community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are respected, celebrated, and embraced. Our mission is to be a leader in reconciliation within the childcare industry. As educators, we believe we have a strong responsibility to nurture an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures in new generations of children. We strive to develop genuine, lasting relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and to embed learning about our shared histories throughout our organisation and curriculum. In doing so, we dedicate ourselves to a future that reinforces the values of inclusiveness, advocacy, equity, and unity through continuous improvement.
Our vision is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised as being the Traditional Owners of Lands across Australia. Our vision is a society where all children are educated from early childhood, to have respect for and an appreciation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and doing.
By respectfully incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our daily programs, we are able to affect change for all the children and families in our service, and this is a powerful step in our reconciliation journey. We recognise the important role that children, families and educators play in the reconciliation journey as future leaders, Elders and carers for Country. We also recognise that early education is a pathway to a reconciled nation.
