Byron Busy Kids recognises that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges, views, and opinions are valued and respected, informing our culturally safe workplace and educational setting. Reconciliation is valued by staff, children and families at Byron Busy Kids, creating opportunities to strengthen our knowledge of the Arakwal and Bundjalung cultures, sharing this knowledge with the jarjum (children) within our care in a culturally safe and respectful manner. Through embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives into our daily routines, programs, experiences and interactions we seek to further promote reconciliation and social change. These practices are continually reflected upon amongst educators, children, families and the broader community and we aim to work in partnership with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Byron Busy Kids are committed to ensuring that the experiences that are provided to the children within our care are authentic and work to strengthen both the children's understanding and their appreciation of the histories, languages and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
