VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

As a whole community, we, the educators and families at C&K Salisbury Community Kindergartenview reconciliation as of primary importance for a happy, healthy, just, equal, and equitable future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians. Firstly, this involves actively listening to and valuing the  voices and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and learning, unlearning and relearning the true histories of First Nations peoples, acknowledging the past and continuing injustice and trauma  caused by colonisation. Only then can we grow together and mature as a united nation. We view education as a key pathway to reconciliation.  Respecting, listening to and valuing First Nations peoples are also  fundamental building blocks to sustain positive relationships within our kindergarten program and wider community. We support children, families and one another to develop these respectful relationships through our philosophy, play, learning and interactions. In consultation with First Nations peoples, we are working hard to create a culturally rich, safe and responsive environment to support all children and families to feel respected, included and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential.  Through our curriculum planning, we will share First Nations perspectives in meaningful and sustainable ways.  Our vision for a reconciled Australia is one in which all First Nations peoples can aspire to a happy, healthy, long and prosperous life as other Australians do, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are respected and valued by all. We strive for a nation where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are acknowledged for their Custodianship, holding rich knowledge about Country, and are actively listened to and included in laws, policies and decisions around  their own needs and the needs of Country. We believe a reconciled Australia values First Nations cultures, knowledges and languages, with First Nations peoples' unique cultural rights legally recognised and Treaties are established.
