VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Little Abbey's Academy acknowledges, respects and values the cultural histories, heritages, traditions and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Little Abbey's Academy is committed to ensuring that every child grows up with a deep connection to and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures,  histories and perspectives. Little Abbey's Academy acknowledges and pays respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and ongoing Custodians of the Land. Our vision is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are actively acknowledged, respected and recognised as  the First Nations peoples of Australia; where all Australians pay their respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present; and where that respect is extended to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. Little Abbey's Academy is committed to contributing to an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a strong sense of belonging, being and becoming; and where connections with community and Country are actively respected.  As Educators, we understand the importance of teaching the children about the histories and the cultures of the First Nations peoples of Lands across the Australian continent, and we are committed to respectfully incorporating First Nations perspectives  into our curriculum, fostering a deep respect for, and growing understanding of, the Land on which we live, learn and play.
