VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is that our collaboration and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff members, families and community members will be built upon our school values of respect, responsibility, resilience and empathy.

Through the lens of Respect, reconciliation at Old Noarlunga Primary will be built on a mutual respect for the rich cultural diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities and the commitment to work together. We establish this through building cultural responsiveness in staff, students and families in our school community.

At Old Noarlunga Primary school, we recognise our responsibility, that reconciliation is everyone’s business and we all have a personal responsibility to uphold and engage in acts of reconciliation.

We will display a shared resilience through acknowledging that working towards reconciliation is a process that requires strength and persistence.

Old Noarlunga Primary will display empathy through understanding the feelings and experiences of all community members as we strive for meaningful relationships.

Our school will embed a focus on reconciliation in our curriculum and respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into the teaching program from Reception to Year 6 and a visible and integral part of our school community.

In our school, we are building a community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, and all families feel included, respected and valued.
