The Learning Sanctuary Freshwater’s vision for reconciliation is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are treated with equity, equality, dignity and respect. In relation to the Early Childhood setting, reconciliation means our educators are knowledgeable and culturally responsive with a strong understanding of the cultures and histories of First Nations peoples so that we are able to authentically and respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives into the classroom daily. We acknowledge and recognise that reconciliation is a long process, we want our educators to create an environment within our classrooms that is inclusive of all cultures and where every child is represented, and every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child has the same opportunities for equity, equality, dignity and respect.
