Wattle Grove OSHC acknowledges and values the cultural histories,  traditions and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Lands across the continent.  Our vision is to continue to provide an environment that reflects the lives of the children and families using the service and the cultural diversity of the broader community, including the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives. Our service is one of inclusiveness, acceptance, equity and equality. Our vision and hope through reconciliation is to promote positive, equal and equitable relationships between all members of the wider community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, to ensure our reconciliation actions are embedded in our program in an active, holistic and non-tokenistic way. We are committed to actively acknowledging Australia’s true histories; to recognising and respecting the value of cultural diversity; and to playing our part in educating children about First Nations peoples’ cultures and perspectives. We will continue to help to break down stereotypes, and to bring awareness to the centre community about the truths of our nation’s shared past and present, and the importance of working together to shape a positive shared future. We are committed to meaningfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives in our curriculum by both building respectful relationships with the local First Nations community and by building the cultural responsiveness of our team. Wattle Grove OSHC aims to contribute to an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel culturally safe and respected in their surroundings, have a sense of belonging and strong connections with their culture and the wider Australian community.
